Egyptian Motorcycles Market is growing up since 3 years in a row. Following the 2024 rise at 188.683 sales, in the first half 2025 sales surged 48.3% at 104.729. Chinese and Indian OEMs dominates the scene.

Economic Outlook

The Arab world’s most populous country has been struggling with the aftermath of a sharp currency devaluation, soaring inflation and the economic fallout from the war in Gaza. Growth slumped to 2.4% in 2023/24 but the government has since accelerated economic reforms under an $8 billion programme with the IMF $24 billion in investment from the UAE’ sovereign wealth fund, including a major land deal on the Mediterranean coast.

Inflation, which peaked at a record 38% in September 2023, has begun to ease but remains high. Egypt’s annual urban consumer price inflation slowed to 14.9% in June from 16.8% in May 2025. Economists expect average headline inflation to moderate to 12.5% in 2025/26.

Under its IMF-backed reform agenda, Egypt has pledged to phase out energy subsidies, particularly on fuel – although this could keep inflationary pressures elevated in the near term.

The Egyptian pound, which was floated in March 2024 after being fixed at around 30.85 to the dollar for over a year, is expected to weaken further. The currency is projected to fall to 51.1 per dollar by the end of June 2026 and 52.9 by June 2027.

Motorcycles Industry Trend and Perspectives

Differently from the most of African market, the motorcycles sector is not the primary mobility vehicles in Egypt. In facts, cars, lorries and public transportation have more relevance due to the high urbanization reached by the country (over 43%) and by the geographical characteristic, with most of industrial and economic activities along the coastal and river areas.

Both auto and motorcycles markets are highly depending by the currency depreciation and internal inflation rate, with unpredictable trends and sales fluctuating rapidly year over year.

In the recent year, after reaching over 400 thousand new registrations in 2021, the market dropped down at only 126.760 the following year, to start a growth path until now.

Following the 2024 rise at 188.683 sales, in the first half 2025 sales surged 48.3% at 104.729.

Following a 5 years consecutive growth, in the 2022 the domestic 2-Wheeler market in Egypt collapsed, hit by unprecedented inflation and low economic growth.
