Brazilian Motorcycles Market is skyrocketing. Following the all-time record scored last year, the start of 2026 was very positive and after the first five months of the year, sales have been 972.762, a +14.3% from the correspondent period last year.
Brazil’s Economic Outlook
Economic activity stagnated in the second half of 2025, curbing annual 2025 GDP growth to 2.3%. High interest rates weighed on economic activity, with investment dropping by 3.5% quarter-on-quarter (non-annualised) in the last quarter.
Recent indicators point to a modest recovery since early 2026. Industrial production has increased by 1.4% since November. Private consumption is showing positive signs, with monthly retail sales growing by 0.6% in February and 0.5% in March. The labour market remains resilient despite an uptick in unemployment to 6.1% in the first quarter. Real wages of workers rose at a rapid pace of 5.5% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2026.
Motorcycle Industry: Trends and Outlook
Within this economic environment, the Brazilian motorcycle industry continues to build on the strong expansion recorded in recent years. The domestic market has grown from fewer than 1 million units in 2018 to over 2 million units in 2025, securing Brazil’s position as the sixth-largest motorcycle market globally. Demand for new two-wheelers is expected to remain resilient in the coming years, supported by affordability and urban mobility needs.
Despite already strong growth in prior years, 2025 marked another exceptional performance, with sales increasing 18.9% year on year to a new all-time record of 2.35 million units.
Starting the 2026, the market confirmed the momentum and sales are still growing very fast. After the first five months of the year, sales have been 972.762, a +14.3% from the correspondent period last year.
While the market remains largely characterised by the widespread use of biofuels, the recently introduced green policy framework has begun to support rapid growth in the electric two-wheeler segment, which in 2025 ranked among the fastest-growing globally and are now growing 35.5%.
