Argentina’s motorcycle market is skyrocketing. During the first five months of the 2026 the demand further accelerated pushing registrations at 367.670 , up an unbelievable +44.2%, the highest level ever, projecting the market near 1 million annual sales.

Economic Outlook

Argentina remains one of the most important and closely watched economies in Latin America. With a large domestic market, abundant natural resources, and a highly skilled workforce, the country continues to attract the attention of international companies looking for long-term growth opportunities.

At the same time, Argentina is still navigating a period of economic transition. After years of volatility, inflationary pressure, and regulatory uncertainty, the country is moving toward a more open and business-friendly environment. For foreign companies, this shift creates both challenges and opportunities: the market requires careful planning, but it also offers strong potential in sectors where Argentina has clear competitive advantages.

The macroeconomic outlook has improved compared with the most difficult years of recent instability, although inflation and fiscal adjustment remain central issues. The IMF currently expects Argentina’s economy to grow by 3.5% in 2026, while inflation is still forecast at around 30.5% for the year. Earlier projections from the IMF also pointed to 4% growth in both 2026 and 2027, showing that expectations remain positive, even if they continue to shift.

Motorcycles Industry Trend and Perspectives

The motorcycle industry—one of the country’s most important industrial sectors—continued its strong expansion in 2025, recording its fifth consecutive year of growth. Total sales reached 645,418 units, up 33.3% year on year, more than double the 2020 level, when the market collapsed under the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. This performance established a new all-time record.

Someone could have expected the 2026 as a transaction year, following the recent huge market increase, but that’s not happening.

Indeed, during the first five months of the 2026 the demand further accelerated pushing registrations at 367.670 , up an unbelievable +44.2%, the highest level ever, projecting the market near 1 million annual sales.

The country is not an isolated case. South America remains the fastest-growing two-wheeler region globally, with most markets expanding on the back of rising per-capita income, accelerating urbanisation, and a relatively young population. Two-wheelers are particularly well suited to these structural trends, offering affordable and flexible individual mobility.

At the same time, the current economic policy—centred on strict fiscal austerity, sharp cuts in public spending (including subsidies and infrastructure investment), and aggressive deregulation aimed at restoring macroeconomic stability—has put pressure on low- and middle-income households. As a result, an increasing number of consumers are turning to motorcycles as the most cost-effective form of personal transportation. This dynamic is expected to sustain market growth for at least the next two years.

A distinctive feature of the market remains the limited penetration of electric two-wheelers. Although EV sales rose by 41% in 2025, the segment continues to play only a marginal role in overall volumes.

Market Leaders and Performance

Among manufacturers, Honda remains the undisputed market leader, although its growth rate (+57.8%) lagged the broader market expansion.

In contrast, several domestic manufacturers recorded significantly stronger growth, including Motomel (+22.0%), Gilera (+53.0%), Keller (+73.6%), Corven (+24.2%), and Zanella (+34.4%).

The strong performance of local brands, along with rapid growth across a broad range of players, suggests a gradual shift away from Honda’s long-standing dominance. This trend is likely to increase competitive intensity, expand consumer choice, and diversify the product offering in the years ahead.
