Global motorcycle industry is increasingly dominated by Asian manufacturers, with 11 Chinese companies now in the Top 25 OEM ranking. Honda leads by an enormous margin with over 20 million sales, followed by Hero and Yamaha, while challengers such as TVS and Yadea are rapidly closing the gap.

Global Top Motorcycles Manufacturers Ranking

The Global Best-Selling Motorcycle Manufacturers Ranking is a proprietary dataset produced by MotorCyclesData, the only organization tracking new two-wheeler registrations across 97 markets worldwide, representing approximately 98.5% of the global industry.

In 2025, the Top 25 OEM ranking reflects the rapid shift in the industry’s geography:

  • 11 Chinese manufacturers

  • 4 Japanese

  • 4 Indian

  • 2 Mexican

  • 2 Taiwanese

  • 1 Italian

  • 1 Vietnamese

Honda firmly retained the global leadership, reaching a new all-time record with over 20 million sales (+4.7%), controlling 31.9% of the global market.

In second place, Hero MotoCorp sold 6.1 million units (+1.8%), slightly expanding its lead over Yamaha, third with 4.77 million (-0.5%).

Behind the traditional leaders, two fast-growing challengers are closing the gap:

  • TVS Motor in fourth place with 4.5 million sales (+17.0%)

  • Yadea, the Chinese EV specialist, in fifth with 4.3 million (+13.3%)

Further down the ranking:

  • Bajaj Auto ranks 7th with 3.25 million units

  • Italika confirms 8th place with 1.3 million sales

  • Royal Enfield climbs to 9th place with 1.2 million

  • Niu Technologies completes the Top 10 with 1.1 million units

Only these ten manufacturers exceeded one million sales globally in 2025.

Fastest Growing Manufacturers

Among the most dynamic companies, VinFast stands out. The Vietnamese EV manufacturer jumped from 53rd to 17th place globally, reflecting the rapid growth of its domestic market and aggressive expansion strategy.

Other notable risers include:

  • Ather Energy, climbing from 40th to 28th

  • Vida, advancing from 75th to 42nd.

Premium Brands Losing Ground

In contrast, premium motorcycle manufacturers remain marginal in the global volume ranking and in several cases lost positions in 2025.

  • BMW Motorrad remains the leading premium brand but slipped two places to 32nd, with sales down 6.6%

  • KTM follows just one position behind

  • Triumph ranks 38th, gaining one position

  • Harley-Davidson fell five places to 39th

These figures highlight a structural reality of the global motorcycle industry: volume growth is increasingly driven by emerging markets and entry-level segments, where Asian manufacturers dominate.
