Kenyan Motorcycles Industry is fast recovering and in 2025 it was one of the best performing worldwide reaching 163.112 sales, a whopping +128.2% from the previous year. The electric segment is booming representing already over the 15% of the industry.

Economic Outlook

Kenya’s economy is projected to expand by 5.3 percent in 2026, according to a forecast by Diamond Trust Bank (DTB), up from an estimated 4.9 percent growth in 2025.

The forecast suggests a modest acceleration in economic activity driven by stabilising macroeconomic conditions, recovering private sector demand, and continued expansion in key sectors such as services and agriculture.

The DTB projection aligns with official and independent outlooks that see Kenya’s performance improving after a period of slower expansion.

Government officials and business analysts point to easing inflation, declining cost of credit and stronger performance in sectors such as construction, transport, tourism and ICT as key elements supporting the upturn.

Motorcycles Industry Trend and Perspectives

The Kenyan two-wheeler market is third largest in the entire African Continent and, considering the stable and rapid GDP growth, we see great opportunities to boost in the next decade.

The motorcycles can be very adaptive to unpaved roads, which are still the majority in the country, and in the huge traffic jam of the few metropolitan areas. For this reason, the new motorcycles market is over 10 times bigger than the car market.

As the pro capita income is growing up, the two wheeler market is having benefit from a growing consumer demand and and this will continue for the entire decade. However, the sales of new vehicles are deeply influenced by government policy and the restrictions applied to the import of pre-owned vehicles.

The market is now recovering after a sharp fall correlated with covid19 and financial crisis and in 2025 it was one of the best performing worldwide reaching 163.112 sales, a whopping +128.2% from the previous year.

A key element – but not the only one – of this acceleration is the boom of electric 2-wheelers, with the segment boomed near 300% and already counting over 15% of total industry.

Looking at the competitive arena, the Indian Bajaj Auto dominated and boosted sales by 258%.

However, in second place the local EV manufacturer Spiro jumped up 666% and is now well ahead of the others ICE specialists, like TVS (3rd), Haojue (4th), Haojin (5th) and Honda (6th).
