Argentina’s motorcycle market set a new all-time record in 2025, posting its fifth straight year of growth. Total sales increased 33.3% to 645,418 units, more than doubling compared with 2020, while Honda retained its position as market leader.

Economic Outlook

After a year of significant changes in the fiscal agenda, along with signs of solid recovery, an economic rebound is expected for in 2025. The Argentine economy has begun to show favourable results in 2024, and this trend is expected to continue in 2025.

GDP growth is projected to be robust, at 5.2% in 2025 and 4.3% in 2026. Private consumption and investment will continue to recover, sustained by higher real disposable incomes, more favourable financing conditions and an improving business environment.

The recent removal of capital restrictions will support further improvements in economic sentiment and investment. Inflation will continue to decline, albeit at a slower pace. Amid rising imports, the current account will deteriorate.

Motorcycles Industry Trend and Perspectives

The motorcycle industry—one of the country’s most important industrial sectors—continued its strong expansion in 2025, recording its fifth consecutive year of growth. Total sales reached 645,418 units, up 33.3% year on year, more than double the 2020 level, when the market collapsed under the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. This performance established a new all-time record.

The country is not an isolated case. South America remains the fastest-growing two-wheeler region globally, with most markets expanding on the back of rising per-capita income, accelerating urbanisation, and a relatively young population. Two-wheelers are particularly well suited to these structural trends, offering affordable and flexible individual mobility.

At the same time, the current economic policy—centred on strict fiscal austerity, sharp cuts in public spending (including subsidies and infrastructure investment), and aggressive deregulation aimed at restoring macroeconomic stability—has put pressure on low- and middle-income households. As a result, an increasing number of consumers are turning to motorcycles as the most cost-effective form of personal transportation. This dynamic is expected to sustain market growth for at least the next two years.

A distinctive feature of the market remains the limited penetration of electric two-wheelers. Although EV sales rose by 41% in 2025, the segment continues to play only a marginal role in overall volumes.

Market Leaders and Performance

Among manufacturers, Honda remains the undisputed market leader, although its growth rate (+15.0%) lagged the broader market expansion.

In contrast, several domestic manufacturers recorded significantly stronger growth, including Motomel (+24.3%), Gilera (+58.8%), Corven (+18.9%), Zanella (+39.1%), and Keller (+57.7%).

The strong performance of local brands, along with rapid growth across a broad range of players, suggests a gradual shift away from Honda’s long-standing dominance. This trend is likely to increase competitive intensity, expand consumer choice, and diversify the product offering in the years ahead.
