Italian Motorcycles Market fell down 65% in March, when all economic activities were in shut down since the 10th, due to the huge emergency created by the Covid19, with all dealers closed. The Q1 ended down 25% while we are projecting the entire 2020 at 139.000 units, down 46% with a recovery in the 2021 which will not allow the market to be back at the pre-crisis level

France. Sales boomed 31% in June driven by Yamaha, Honda and Piaggio

French Motorcycles Market momentum was killed in March as the Covid19 forces the country to shut down commercial activities. In March new motorcycles sales have been 14.179 (-52.2%) ending the first quarter with 54.650 units, down 17.8%. According to our Research Team the full year 2020 sales will be 170.000 (-44.9%), but the 2021 will show an immediate recovery.

Spain. Motorcycles Market +7% in June

Spanish Motorcycles Market collapsed in March losing 45.9% as consequence of all commercial activities shut down in place since mid month. The Q1 ended with 38.432 sales (-10.8%) thanks to the positive start, before the Covid19 crisis. The 2020 is the hardest year since the II World War and the motorcycles market will deeply lose sales, with full year 2020 projection down 46.6%.

Piaggio. Global Two-wheeler sales fell 21% year to date May 2020

Piaggio improved global motorcycles sales in the 2019 by over 6% with a final projection of 330.000 units (not including commercial vehicles and referring just on Piaggio and Vespa sales). Indeed, in the first nine months of the year global registrations have been 262.283 (+6.8%). North America, ASEAN and Europe have been all positive.

Bangladesh. In first half 2020 two-wheeler sales down 37%

Bangladesh Motorcycles Industry is the new frontier for the entire sector. Supported by a favorable development policy and high investment by Indian and Japanese manufacturers, the industry is booming. Following sales doubled in the last three years, in the 2019 sales hit the 0.6 million units. Bajaj Auto dominates.

India. Motorcycles sales in June down 35%

Indian two-wheeler market started the 2020 keeping the negative trend in place and losing 14% in January and 19% in February, with March projected 29% down, at the 16th consecutive year on year lost. The effects of Covid19 will further deteriorate the outlook, already penalized by Euro 4 emission standard introduction and vehicles price increase.

Aprilia. Year to date May global sales down 37%

Aprilia global sales performance in the 2019 is outstanding projecting the year back at the 2012 level, following four raising years. Indeed, in the first nine months of the year, sales have been 65.041, up 8.3%. Indian region is the largest, with 36% of global sales followed by Europe with 27%.

Benelli. In the first five months 2020 lost 27% of global sales

Benelli Motorcycles in the 2019 hit the new all time record in global sales and after having overtaken Ducati is now challenging Triumph position in the motorcycles ranking. Royal Enfield. 2020 sales are falling 44%

Royal Enfield has lost a deep 18% of sales in the 2019 following sixth consecutive all time record years. Sales are fast growing in all regions, but in India, which dragged down the global performance. In Europe sales are booming in all countries and UK become the second market worldwide. Colombia. Motorcycles market lost momentum hit by covid19

Colombian Motorcycles industry was in a great shape and the start of 2020 was up in double digit, following the previous two years growth. Unfortunately, the arrival of Covid19 in the country, forced the government to shut down all not necessary activities and in March the market fell down 22.5%, ending the first quarter flat. 

Kymco. Hard start of the year, with global sales sharply down YTD April 2020

Kymco Motorcycles global sales performance recovered in the 2109 after the slow score in the previous year and - thanks to a year end rush - hit the second highest score ever. Sales are growing in Asia and Latin America, while in Europe the manufacturer stands at the lowest level in the decade.

SYM. Year to date April global sales down 13%

SYM motorcycles boosted global sales during the 2019 with a new record of 406.812 sales. The new record was based on European operations, while the manufacturer is growing in all regions, including Latin America, Africa, CIS, East Europe and in Asia. In Taiwan the year was positive while not at the best.

Indian Motorcycles. In the 2020 sales are resilient thanks to European boom

Indian Motorcycle has been re-build by Polaris Ind.during the last decade and the custom american brand has been revamped with a robust business model, based on seven motorbike families, apparel, accessories, clubs, mono-brand stores. While the US operations hit the best in the 2017 and then declined, sales are growing in all countries with Europe hitting over 5k units in the 2019

Pakistan. Two wheeler sales down a still huge 75% in May

Pakistani Motorcycles Industry has unchanged the negative trend and the Q1 2020 had been the sixth declining quarter in a row. Despite the Covid19 will marginally hit the Pakistani economy, the outlook for the year is negative, due to high price, increased duties on the sector, currency depreciation, while the recovery should start only in the Q2 2021.

Europe. May results project a V-curve recovery faster than expected

European Motorcycles Market, lost 35.8% in March breaking a long string of positive months and ending the first quarter 2020 with 292.996 sales (-13.0%), thanks to the good start in January and February. Great Britain. Losing 50%, The British motorcycles market in May was the worst in Europe

British Motorcycles Market fell down 25% in March ended the Q1 with 23.837 sales (-12.2%).  Two-wheeler industry will fall down in Q2 losing over 65%. Germany. In May motorcycles sales up in double-digit

The 2020 will end around 165.000 units (-13.6%) and the recovery will not start before the second quarter 2021. However, this year the German market will show the best performance among the Big 5 countries in Europe.

World Motorcycles market has lost 1.6 million units in the 2019 compared with the previous year, which was at the highest level ever. Ecuador. Motorcycles sales dropped 94% in April

TVS Motor. Global 2020 sales down 50%, while Norton acquisition is finalized

TVS Motor confirms to have purchased Norton Motorcycles for £16 million. Norton marque slid into administration in February after having sold only 128 motorcycles in the 2019. The company was rescued by TVS, the fifth largest motorcycles company in the World, and now has the challenge to return to former glories.

Hero Motor. Global 2020 sales are declining 42%

Hero Motors reported in the 2019 the first double-digit lost since 2011 divorce with Honda, hit by the lost in the domestic market which has not been balanced by international activities.  The World's second largest motorcycles company is facing the first difficulty after a series of annual records and in the 2020 should demonstrate the ability to counteract a negative market environment

Bajaj Auto. Global sales down 39% year to date April

Bajaj Auto in the 2019 pushed the brake in the global expansion, due to the lost of 12% in the domestic sales in India. Global sales had been 3.6 million, down 0.2 million from the previous year. The growth in several markets, including CIS region and east Europe and the gain of share in Latin America allowed to contain the lost in a negative market environment.

Ducati. Global sales fell down 34% in the first four months 2020

Ducati Motor Holding ended the 2019 below our projection, due to low Q4 sales and in the 2019 was flat over the previous year, despite opening several Ducati Stores. The manufacturer has just marginally benefit from the positive industry trend in Europe, losing in the ASEAN, in North America and performing well just in China and Brazil.

Thailand. May Motorcycles sales down 39% and the outlook is negative

Honda controls the market with 73% of market share, but the only electric model produced is sold just with a lease formula and an official price list is not available.

ASEAN. In 2019 motorcycles sales grew up 5%, booming in Singapore & Malaysia

ASEAN Motorcycles Industry represents the 22.4% of the global two-wheeler market and in the 2019 consolidated the position with sales up 5.3%, at the second highest level ever of 13.75 million units.
