Hero Motors Global Sales declined 6.7% in the first half 2025. Although international activities growth, the increased competition in the domestic Indian market caused the lost of volume and share, breaking a 3 years growing pathway.

McD tracks new vehicles registrations across the World (over 90 countries), reporting data on calendar year. When you wish to compare data reported by us to those declared by the manufacturers, consider they usually report their “sales” (vehicles invoiced), which are usually different from “registrations”, accordingly with their fiscal year split.

During the first half of the 2025 Hero Motor confirmed the rule of the biggest Indian motorcycles manufacturers and the second largest in the World.

However, after hitting the all-time record sales in the 2018, exceeding the 8 million annual sales, the annual sales reported a three-years row of deep decline, down to the 5.0 million sold in the 2021, under the strong attack of other domestic players, Honda India overall.

In the last three years, while the Indian market grew fast up to an all-time record of over 20.5 million in 2024, Hero’s sales grew up with a lower than competitors speed, achieving 6.0 million sales in the 2024.

In the first six months of the 2025 global 2-wheeler sales have been 2.75, down 6.7%. While in the domestic market Hero is losing share and sales (-7.8%) abroad sales are growing, but the export activities are still very marginal, counting only 5.1% of the total in this half.

Considering that most of abroad sales are still made in Africa, a continent with very low price and margin, the steps to do for a real global presence are still enormous, considering we are talking about a very giant company.

The leadership position in India is actually under the Honda attack, but others players are gaining space and the need for a rapid development of international sales requires investments in new models, able to attract customers in more high-tech markets.
