Pakistani Motorcycles Industry Trend and Perspectives

In the last two years, the Pakistani economy and industry shrank as floods, uncertainty, and disrupted external support caused public investment to plunge and private investment and industry to contract. Inflation reached a 5-decade high as supply disruption and currency depreciation propelled increases in food and energy prices.

Demand for new 2 and 3 wheelers collapsed starting from July 2022 after that for the entire previous decade, the Pakistani motorcycles market had been one of the fastest growing worldwide, reaching a record (2021) of 1.8 million annual sales.

However, when flood disaster happened in July 2022 the market plummet losing near the half in the following 24 months.

Meanwhile the government introduced a new policy aiming to support the fast development of electric two wheeler market in the country and after tow years we must say they are having success.

In 2024, although a bad start of the year, then recovered in the second half, 2-wheeler sales have been 1.3 million (+18.4%) but half a million far from the record.

The just born EVs segment is fast growing, reaching 46.364 sales (+123.4%) with new local start up joined by Yadea and other chinese manufacturers.

Looking at the performance among the top manufacturers, the leader Honda reports sales up 15.5%, ahead of United Auto (+29.3%), Suzuki (+17.3%) and Road Prince (+13%).
