French Motorcycles Industry Trend and Perspectives
While the whole European 2-wheeler market is running with a moderate sales increase (like Italy, the biggest one), the French motorcycle market keeps struggling and is losing terrain for the second year in a row.
The market reported a 1.0% lost in the first eight months 2024, with sales at 193.332, following the previous two years decline.
Both scooter (-1.6%) and motorcycle segments (-0.6%) are losing.
Even the electric segment is declining, with the electric L1 taking the biggest hit (-8.5%), while the electric L3 is up 7.3% for a total segment down 3.0%.
Market Leaders and Performance
Looking at top manufacturer’s performance, Honda maintained its leading position with a marginal decrease YTD of 6.3%. Yamaha experienced a slight recovery of 3.6% while in third place BMW is losing 2.3%.
Notably, in fourth and fifth position, Kawasaki and Triumph exhibited substantial growth, with sales surging by 29.8% and 15.8%, respectively.
But immediately after them, Peugeot is down 4.0%, Piaggio lost 18.6%, KTM lost 15.9%.
