TVS Motor Global Sales is fast growing. In 2024 the sales are growing 14.1% with over 2.4 million sales after the first eight months gaining the 5th place in the World Ranking, overtaking Bajaj.

TVS Motors aims to be the “premium” Indian motorcycles manufacturer and is pursuing this strategy improving under any aspects, starting from the R&D and production, learning by working with the partner BMW, evolving the line up with more style and more technological features. And this is working!

In terms of sales focus, while the domestic market is still crucial representing the 88.2% of global sales, the development of international activities has been a key focus in recent years with a step by step strategy. They focused initially on markets where the acceptance of their product line up was more likely and they won this challenge, fast  evolving activities in Latin America, ASEAN and, more recently, in East Europe..

Now they presented a completely revised product line, which authorize the expectations they could make an additional step, developing the network all around the World.

Last decade TVS Motor global sales performance is really impressive. A first step was between 2012 and 2018, with sales growing up from 1.9 million to 3.4 million.

When Indian market felt in 2019 and when covid hit the markets in 2020, TVS lost sharply declining at 2.36 million sales in 2020. 

However, the growing pathway was taken again in 2021 and we do not expect they will stop for years.

Following a three years dramatic increase, in 2023 the company established the new all-time record at 3.45 million with an impressive +21.3% speed.

In 2024 the sales are growing 14.1% with over 2.4 million sales after the first eight months and a great milestone has been already achieved, as TVS Motor has overtaken Bajaj Auto becoming the 5th Top Seller Worldwide.

Sales are fast growing (+13.9%) in the Indian region (India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and others), in North America (Mexico +30.5%) and in East Europe (+104.7%).

TVS Motor manufactures a wide range of two-wheelers from mopeds to racing inspired motorcycles. The company also manufactures three-wheelers. The company has an annual production capacity of 4 million 2 wheelers & 120.000 three wheelers.

It is one of the leading two-wheeler and three-wheeler exporters from India distributing to over 60 countries. The company has manufacturing plants located at Hosur in Tamil Nadu Mysore in Karnataka and Nalagarh in Himachal Pradesh. It also has one manufacturing unit located at Karawang in Indonesia.

In 1979 TVS Group company Sundaram-Clayton Ltd started Moped Division at Hosur to manufacture TVS 50 mopeds. In 1982 the company entered into a technical know-how and assistance agreement with Suzuki Motor Co Ltd of Japan and in 1985 they incorporated a new company Lakshmi Auto Components Pvt Ltd for the manufacture of critical engines and transmission parts. In 1986 the company acquired the assets of the moped division from Sundaram Clayton Ltd. Also the name of the company was changed from Indo Suzuki Motorcycles Ltd to TVS Suzuki Ltd.

TVS and Suzuki shared a 19-year-long relationship that was aimed at technology transfer for design and manufacture of two-wheelers specifically for the Indian market. Re-christened TVS-Suzuki, the company brought out several models such as the Suzuki Supra, Suzuki Samurai, Suzuki Shogun and Suzuki Shaolin. In 2001, after separating ways with Suzuki, the company was renamed TVS Motor, relinquishing its rights to use the Suzuki name.

The TVS group and Suzuki Motor Corporation parted ways from their 15-year-old joint venture on September 27 2001. 

In 2016 TVS started manufacturing the BMW G310R, a model co-developed with BMW Motorrad after their strategic partnership in April 2013 and in December 2018, the Hosur plant where the motorcycle is manufactured, rolled out its 50,000th G310R series unit.
